Why a timber table?
Timber is a Natural product: It comes from a natural resource which is renewable, energy efficient and recyclable. Importantly, timber acts as a carbon store, giving it an important role to play in reducing carbon emissions.
It is full of character: You won’t want to be covering it with a table cloth! Like our fingerprints, no two grains of a timber are exactly the same – giving it its own beautiful and individual characteristic. Where some may mistake lines and grains as flaws in the timber it is actually it’s very own fingerprint – as such. Grain is used to describe the cells and their direction in the timber. The tree is made up of millions of tiny narrow cells. Their length generally follows the same direction as the length of the tree. Deviations in direction often occur and are therefore not always consistent grain direction within the tree. Knots or irregular growth of a tree may also distort grain direction.
Easy Maintenance: If coated with a protective seal, care is quite simple with timber. Regular wiping timber with a clean damp cloth to remove dirt and dust is all you need to maintain your furniture. Soaking or leaving spills on your table will affect the surface – being the natural product it is, timber is prone to environmental changes. Air moisture, fluctuating temperatures or chemical exposure will cause changes in your timber.
Timber looks good anywhere: There are many “species” of timber which means there are various colours available. Solid Oak and Walnut are the most popular types used in furniture as they are hard woods and durable. Paired with some classic comfy dining chairs and your fine dining ready!
