Every year HOME magazine showcases New Zealand’s best new furniture and lighting in its design awards. This year saw the ‘Volley’ by Jamie Mclellan for Resident win in the furniture category. And you can see why – this chair boasts comfort and sophistication in design.

It is considered to be a playful chair with a curvaceous internal shell made from 3 pieces of plywood, which comes together making a comfortable three dimensional form. The upholstery represents what is happening beneath it. The two seams that are on the top of the seat are where the plywood pieces meet below.

It is an inviting chair – you want to sit in it. Although the design screams complexity the enduring design makes it a piece you will have forever. Available with either timber legs or an upholstered swiveling pedestal base.
